I’m quite happy with the outcome of my final piece; overall I feel that it works well to portray my idea of how the change and expansion of Poole will affect nature in a negative way. It’s possibly a bit too sinister and scary in a way, though if the technique I used was too animated then I wouldn’t have been able to get the serious message I was looking for. I could have possibly explored typography a bit more for this project, though it was an editorial illustration so focusing on the image side was appropriate.
I feel that the shape of the map of Poole is somewhat lost because I may have went overboard with trying to make it look like an infection rather than the map. Thus, I had to include the the word 'Poole' in the left-hand drawing to make it clear. In addition, I could have linked the two images a bit better, I did try include bloody footprints coming off the left image leading to the right, but this does make it look a bit tacky, so more development could have been made to make it look more of a natural transition.
Because I did each of the images on two individual pieces of A4 paper, the connection between the two seems to be lost and the left-hand image seems a little cut off towards the middle. If I were to do it again, I would use just one sheet of A3 paper and make it so that the two images were more linked together and flow into each other better. Saying that, I'm still happy with the outcome of this piece.
