Coming to terms with Illustrator

I remember trying to deal with the new software Illustrator last year and it was not a pleasant experience, I will need to play around with it more when I have the time, hopefully I'll get my mac soon so much fun is to be had. Here's something I drew on illustrator. Basically we were asked to take a simple shape from a photo from Poole and draw it using the pen tool. I found it a little difficult to get the curves right at first, but I think I'm making good progress now :)

Here's the icon I will use as part of the typeface Neil will be putting together at the end which will be much like the Dingbat typeface we know today. May have to go back and change a few things when I'm armed with more amazing new skills I pick up during the Illustrator classes :p
