Today was pretty interesting, was put into groups and asked to devise a typeface using just tape. First thing that sprung to mind was the fact that everyone was going to end up with a typeface looking the same seeing as the medium we were given looked limited in what it could do. But after listening to everyone's presentations at the end of the day, I was amazed to find that such a small and simple tool could be interpreted in so many different ways to create a variety of different typefaces.

Our group started off relatively slowly at the idea generation stage. Everyone seemed to have disappeared off to various locations to work on their typeface and before we knew it, we were the last ones in the room. The problem wasn't not being able to think of any ideas, but the fact that we had too many ideas. Soon after we started eliminating the not so realistic ones and stuck with the one that was quick to produce and visually interesting.
The weather was not looking great, though this didn't stop our group from stepping out into the wet and windy to pursue our project. We ended up sticking tape in a number of places and have a lot of work to show for it, which was great. Though a part of me felt that we could have been more creative with how we used the environment around us, like the 3D shapes of the buildings.
Our font looked a bit like blackout or transuranium which I researched and found www.dafont.com after the project, which suggests unoriginality. Either way, our font did work well.

Something I would have liked to have tried was incorporating the shadow of the letters as part of the typeface or maybe cut the letters in half, place the first half at the bottom of a wall and the bottom half connected to it on the floor. Somewhat like PORTUGAL MUSEUM IMAGE WRITE MORE HERE, though I guess that idea can be left for another rainy day...
