Democracy

This project was a slow-starting one and not everyone was into politics so we had to work as a team and get everyone up to date with what 'democracy' actually was. Even though not everyone was sure what exactly the word meant, it was still interesting to see how others interpreted it; what it meant to them. But this also meant we couldn't agree on a final idea and ended up splitting up and coming up with our own ideas, then joining up again at the end to see who's idea worked the best to describe Democracy.

In the end, we used the poster created by the one who knew the most about Democracy. I'm not saying this was a bad thing, but it meant that the poster was more informative and political than anything, it still got the message across, though not through the way I would have wanted. I didn't feel it fulfilled the criteria of being creative, but it was still a very successful poster and would get through to the older or more intellectual generation.

I do feel that our teamwork could have been exercised more; I don't feel that splitting up and coming up with numerous ideas each and then joining back together for the verdict worked that well. Though as I didn't know many of the team members, they would be too polite to dismiss my idea completely and a lot of them didn't know what Democracy was so this may have been the most efficient way to work for this project.

The way I took on the meaning of Democracy was how people don't vote for the person, but the figure that person stands for; how people would rather vote for their own benefits than for the greater good. It's a more comical take on the meaning of the word, but it still has a have a lot of meaning and fact behind it. You could even say it was targeted towards teenagers or young adults with a sense of humour. Either way, it is not a serious take on the meaning and mocks Democracy more than anything.
