This was again, a very full on and productive day where we really delve into things to produce graphic related objects. We started off with book binding, which was nothing new to me because I'd done it last year in foundation. Though nonetheless it was still a good experience and I enjoyed every moment of making the books. I think this is because the 'home-made' books have a very delicate structure to it, and you have to be very precise with the measurements in order to produce good standard books. And the outcome is you end up with something very beautiful and nice to look at which is satisfying and rewarding because of the hard effort you've put into it.
In the afternoon, we went straight into Letterpress week two. This time I had more of an idea of what I wanted to do after some research of other letterpress companies. I used the technique of embossing more this week so the letters are indented into the paper rather than printed with paint on it. This simple idea works well to give a subtle and somehow 'calm' feeling to the meaning behind the words; it also looks quite professional. I might have to sign up for a workshop later to try out layering with letterpress so I have a variety of different compositions.
